Terms and privacy
Version 2026-10-12. In force from 12 October 2026.
The short version
- Mami Wuta is a free game. You can play as a guest without giving us your name or email.
- An account takes your email and nothing about your age. Chat with other players is for 18 and over: there we ask for your date of birth and take your word for it.
- Naira in the game is play money. It cannot be bought, sold or cashed out.
- Be decent to other players. We can remove names, looks and messages, and close accounts, when these terms are broken.
- We keep as little about you as the game needs, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Mami Wuta, the service that runs this game ("we", "us"). By playing, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not play.
1. Who can play
- You can play as a guest. At the start we ask which age group you are in. Your answer decides which stories you see and whether chat is open to you. Answer honestly.
- You can make an account at any age. It takes your email, and we do not ask your date of birth for it.
- Chat, and anywhere else you can message players you do not know, is for 18 and over. Before it opens we ask for your date of birth. We do not check it against a document, so you are responsible for it being true.
- If we learn that someone under 18 is using chat, we close chat to that account.
- If the law where you live does not let you agree to these terms on your own, ask a parent or guardian to read them and agree for you before you play.
2. Guest games and accounts
- A guest game lives in the browser you started it in. If you clear that browser's data, use a private window, or change phone, we cannot bring it back.
- An account keeps your game safe and lets you open it on another device. You sign in with a code we send to your email. There is no password.
- One game can be linked to one account. Keep your email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- You can ask us to delete your account and your game at any time. See Contact.
3. Naira, clothes and other game items
- Naira in Mami Wuta is play money. It has no value outside the game and is not real currency.
- Naira, clothes, scores and ranks cannot be bought with real money, sold, traded outside the game, or exchanged for anything of value.
- We may change prices, rewards, items and rules to keep the game fair and working. We may correct a balance that came from a bug or from cheating.
4. How to behave
You must not:
- harass, threaten, bully or demean anyone, or post hateful or sexual content;
- send sexual messages to, or ask for personal details from, anyone under 18;
- pretend to be another person, a moderator or Mami Wuta staff;
- share anyone's private information, including your own contact details, in names or chat;
- cheat, use bots or scripts, exploit bugs, or try to get at other players' games or our systems;
- use the game to advertise, sell or scam.
You can block and report other players in the game. Reports are reviewed. We may remove a name, look or message, limit what you can do, or close an account when these terms are broken. Serious harm to a child is reported to the authorities.
5. What is yours and what is ours
- The game, its stories, characters, art, clothes and code belong to Mami Wuta and its licensors. You may play the game for your own enjoyment. You may not copy, resell or build on it without our written permission.
- The name you choose and the looks you put together in the game can be shown to other players, for example in competitions, votes and rankings. You give us permission to show them inside the game and when we show the game to others.
6. The game as it is
- Mami Wuta is an early version. It can change, break or go offline, and features can be removed. We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- The game is free and gives you no right to compensation if a game, an item or progress is lost.
- Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be signed away, or limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited.
7. Ending and changing
- You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account and game.
- We can close an account or stop offering the game, for example when these terms are broken or the game is shut down.
- When we change these terms we change the version at the top of this page. If the change matters to you, the game asks you to accept the new version before you carry on with an account.
Privacy
This is what the web game at mamiwuta.com collects, why, and who helps us handle it.
What we keep
- Your game. Your character, the name you give it, your wardrobe, Naira, story progress, scores and the choices you make. We need this to run the game.
- Your age group. The age group you choose when you start. If you open chat, your year of birth: we use the full date of birth once, to work out your age, and keep only the year. If the date says you are under 18, we keep that the account said so, and not the date.
- Your email, if you make an account. We use it to send sign-in codes and messages about your account. We do not show it to other players and we do not send marketing to it.
- Your session. One cookie,
mw_refresh, keeps you in your game. The game cannot run without it. It holds a random key, not your details, and lasts up to 400 days from your last visit. - How the game is used. Which screens are opened and errors the game runs into, with an anonymous visitor number kept in your browser's storage. This does not include your name, your email, what you type or recordings of your screen. We use it to find what is broken and what players enjoy.
- Technical records. Your network address and the time of each request are used to keep the service secure and to limit abuse, and are kept in server logs for a short time.
- Reports and moderation. If you report someone or are reported, we keep the report and what it concerns for as long as we need to act on it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not use it for advertising or share it with advertisers.
- We do not ask for your real name, phone number, contacts, location or payment details.
Who helps us
These companies handle information for us, only to provide their service:
- Cloudflare delivers the game and carries its traffic.
- Hetzner hosts the game server and its database.
- PostHog, hosted in the European Union, receives the usage and error information.
- Mailtrap sends sign-in codes to your email.
Your information may be handled in countries other than your own. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect someone from serious harm.
How long we keep it
- Your game and account are kept until you ask us to delete them or the game closes.
- A sign-in code is deleted when it is used or shortly after it runs out, which is 3 minutes after it is sent.
- Sessions are removed when they run out. Usage information is kept only as long as it is useful for running and improving the game, then deleted or combined so it no longer relates to a visitor.
Your choices
- You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and game. Write to us from the email on your account so we know it is you.
- A guest game has no email, so we can only find it while you still have the browser it was started in.
- You may also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
